As per Illinois State mandate beginning June 19, 2018, the Geneseo Police Department will no longer be a Public Safety Answering Point. We will no longer be able to dispatch the ambulance for the public. You will have to dial 911 if you have an emergency or need any ambulance services, please DO NOT call our non-emergent phone number. 911 calls will be answered by either the Henry County Sherriff’s Office or Kewanee Police Department. Please assist us with this transition

ROAD CLOSURES - WEEK of JUNE 8th
The asphalt overlay process consists of an oil prime that is sprayed on the road, then a blacktop machine will lay a 2” surface of new blacktop. Once the oil prime is sprayed on a road, traffic will not be allowed on the street until the blacktop has been applied and cools. The outside temperature, cloud cover, or time of day will determine how long your street will be closed. Your roads may be closed over night or opened late in the evening as the asphalt cools. Please make alternative plans for parking your vehicles if you will need to get out. Henry County Highway Department does the asphalt overlay process and has confirmed they will be starting the week of June 8th. Dates are weather permitting.

📸 Passport Photo Contest: Stop #3! 📸

For our third stop, we are throwing it back to a building with a seriously moving history—literally!

📍 Location #3: American House & Klavine Motor Co.

🏠 Address: 119 S Center St

Before this building settled into its current location, the American House (1854) had historic ties to local education and boarding. But that’s just the beginning of the story!

Did you know this spot was a hub for global innovation?
D.F. Sargent & Son Cart Works manufactured road and mail carts that were invented right here in Geneseo. These carts weren't just local favorites—they were shipped all across America and Europe, playing a massive role in the transportation and utility sectors of the era and helping Geneseo grow into the city it is today.

Fast forward to 1925, and the building transitioned from horse-drawn carts to horsepower, becoming home to Klavine Motor Co.

🤳 How to Enter:
Head over to 119 S Center St. Snap a creative picture of Site #3 (selfies, family shots, or artistic angles are all welcome). For additional contest info and how to participate, please see the below link. This contest is open to all Geneseo students.
