Lateral Entry Police Examination
Geneseo Police Department
The City of Geneseo Board of Police Commissioners will conduct lateral entry interviews for the purpose of maintaining the Police Officer eligibility lists as required by Illinois State Statute.

Completed forms must be received by 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018. All qualified applicants will be notified in writing of the place and time of interviews by the board. All applicants are subject to the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Police Commissioners.
**LATERAL ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS**
1.Certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board as a certified full-time police officer.
2.Previous continuous service as a Police Officer in the State of Illinois for a minimum of two years.
3.Currently in good standing with the Police Department in which the applicant currently serves or separated from, with no adverse employment action.
4.Eligible to be granted a waiver of basic training from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
5.Must pass the oral examination/interview, psychological, polygraph, medical and background checks.
6.Must reside no more than fifteen (15) miles from City Hall after the 1-year probation period.
