The Kiwanis Club of Geneseo was chartered on October 22, 1920, sponsored by the Galesburg Kiwanis Club. Except for a short period of 5 years during the depression, from 1932-1937, members have met weekly over the past 95 years with the purpose of service to the community and assistance to the aging, the needy and the youth of Geneseo. They meet every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Geneseo Community Center Senior Room (541 E. North St., Geneseo).
Since 1917, Lions clubs have offered people the opportunity to give something back to their communities. From involving members in projects as local as cleaning up an area park or as far-reaching as bringing sight to the world's blind, Lions clubs have always embraced those committed to building a brighter future for their community.
The Rotary Club of Geneseo was organized in 1948 by a group of 15 business and professional men and was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Moline. Made up of over 50 business and community leaders, the Geneseo Rotary Club upholds the fundamentals of Rotary International. Their motto is Service Above Self. The mission of all Rotary Clubs is to serve their community and those in need throughout the world.
Optimist International is a worldwide volunteer organization made up of more than 2,500 local Clubs whose Members work each day to make the future brighter by bringing out the best in children, in their communities, and in themselves.
The Geneseo Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing and retaining commerce, industry, agriculture, and quality of life in the City of Geneseo and surrounding area. It works to help Geneseo achieve its fullest potential by providing continuous and effective leadership. Its strength lies in the active involvement of its membership. Both large and small businesses, from virtually every profession, are represented and influence the direction of the organization.
