New Hire Police Officer Application

Starting Pay-$31.09

  1. Age not less than 21 years old.
  2. Age not more than 35 years old unless exempt from such age limitations as provided in Section 5/10-2.1-6 of the Fire and Police Commissioners Act.
  3. Citizen of the United States.
  4. High School Graduate or equivalent.
  5. Must pass Physical Aptitude, Written, Oral, Psychological, Polygraph and Medical Exams and a Background check.
  6. Must live within 30 miles of the City Hall address within 6 months.

**LATERAL OFFICER ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS**

Starting Pay $33.41

  1. Certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board as a certified full time police officer; and
  2. Previous continuous service as a Police Officer for a minimum of two years; and
  3. In good standing in the Police Department in which the person currently serves or separated from with no adverse employment action; and
  4. Eligible to be granted a waiver of basic training from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
  5. Must pass oral examination/interview, psychological, polygraph, medical and background checks.
  6. Must live within 30 miles of the City Hall address within 6 months.
